LabElysée is the museum’s new space dedicated to digital culture. A living laboratory at the heart of the museum, LabElysée questions the way that a cultural institution dedicated to photography plays with new technologies. At a time when Internet has become a creative tool, LabElysée invites the visitor, to the museum and online, to follow and contribute to the development of the photography museum of the future.

Accessible online the reGeneration_web platform proposes an interactive map of the exhibition for the purpose of spotlighting the community that has grown up around the project over the last 15 years. By playing around with the filters, the viewer can draw the links between photographers, institutions and schools. The platform also provides access to the artist’s biographies.

near. x LabElysée : Artificial Intersections

What happens when the Musée de l’Elysée meets near. in order to question Swiss photography through the prism of machine learning? Invited to select a keyword or submit an image from their smartphone, visitors participate in the curatorial process between human and machine. The result, which is then displayed live on the screens, gives a glimpse of the potential of the learning machine as a curator.

From October 2018 to May 2019, INT is in residence at the Musée de l'Elysée to develop a sound narrative device driven by eye movement. Unlike a traditional audioguide, the system aims to provide information about the work and its context based on what the visitor is watching.
